I've heard the younger a dog is, the better chance of being incontinent. I adopted a pup from the Humane Society and she was already spayed at 8 weeks of age, and she can hold her urine for an eternity. My other dogs were spayed around 6 months of age, and I've never had a problem. I guess it depends on the vet who does the spaying procedure. Good luck.

It depends on how young and small she is, and if it is a good Vet. I would NOT take her for an assembly line spay like they do at the HS's or ASPCA.
To the other posters - spay incontinence is not uncommon

should be virtually nil if she is old enough when spayed. In all my years keeping spayed b1tches I have never had one incontinent but they were all spayed no sooner than after their first season as per normal in the UK.

Ian kindly refrained from mentioning 'spelling'.
Mine had a hysterectomy. She's still continent.

I'm not sure where you've gotten this idea... spaying doesn't involve the urinary tract at all...
