It's very good that you are skinny. Don't worry, you have plenty of time to gain a little weight. You will most likely have a great shape as an adult if you're a little thin now. Please don't try to change anything :)

I really would not worry and ignore such comments which probably are made out of jealousy or tactlessness. If you are eating a healthy, balanced diet, then you are very lucky as you will never get fat or obese. You will fill up a little later but you will always look a million dollars in anything you wear. Reflect on the fact that many famous models nearly starve themselves to stay slim. You do not need to, and are blessed with a metabolism that will keep you healthy, without you having to diet or watch your weight. Look at yourself in a positive fashion. Most thirteen years adolescents dislike themselves whether they are skinny or plump. Learn to like yourself as you are and take pride in your looks. Everyday stand in front of the mirror and say to yourself "I am not skinny, I am elegant". If anyone tells you that you are skinny, just answer " I prefer to be on the slim side rather than plump. I do not have to count calories all the time like some" .You really are a very very lucky girl, believe me.

If what they say is true, you might try eating more (increase total caloric intake) and make sure you are getting a balanced diet. Don't go on any fad diets and please do not make being skinny your ultimate goal in life (do not become anorexic or bulimic). Other than that, I wouldn't much worry about it at age 13. The next few years should prove everyone wrong about what they are saying and they will eventually shut up. Just stay in there. Remember, life is a marathon not a sprint. Just bide your time. Your time will come.

If you really are worried about this, but you don't want to go to the doctors, there are plenty of charts available which will show you how your height relates to your weight. Have a look and see if you really are underweight (skinny), or if you are perfect! Then, at least you'll know.
Your friends may be trying to help, but at your age they tend not to be very diplomat about it!
If you've found out if your weight is a bit lower than it should be, tell your mum and say that you'd like to go to the doctor to see if you need to go on a diet (diets don't only make you lose weight you know!) to bring you up to a better weight. But ignore you friends (and smile while you ignore them) because you know that you have checked out your weight and have taken the correct actions.

Firstly have you tried talking to your parents about this. I know it's not easy sometimes but even an aunt or someone who knows and sees you would be able to give you better advice than us as they can see you. If you cant do that and you are worried that you are too thin then I would recommend you go to the doctors to see what they think.
If you have a heathly balance and are eating enough then it is probably not something you need to worry about.
Ultimately try and speak to an adult you trust - not trying to preach as I remember not always being able to speak with my mum but I had an aunt that was great for honest advice.
Hope this helps in some way

As long as you are eating healthy and exercising, there is no reason to be concerned. You are 13, and within a year or so, you will begin to fill out and develop. I would not worry about what people say at all. They're probably all wishing they were skinny enough not to worry about dieting. I would not start adding lots of fat to your diet in order to gain weight. You'll get there. Your body knows what it's doing.

How tall are you and how much do you weigh?
I've always had that problem. Do people assume that you have an eating disorder as well? As long as you're getting enough nutrients, not skipping meals, and exercising, then I guess that's how your body is built!
Don't start stuffing yourself just because people are saying things like "Good God! You're gross! Gain some weight!". I had to go through that all throughout middle school and part of high school. They shut up once they see you eating normally. Or they tend to get tired of picking on you and move onto someone else.
:) Good luck!

Hi. If you eat a balanced diet and are skinny - don't worry. If you are dieting to make yourself skinny, then you really do need help and should find someone to talk to face to face. I was skinny and called various unflattering names until I was around 18. If you are like I was and lucky enough to be able to eat what you like and not put on weight, then make the most of it - smile and be happy. :)

If you are making yourself skinny you need help. If you eat well and dont hide things...dont worry. It hits most people around 40. Enjoy the lack of weight until then.
