I've heard lots of stories of dogs swallowing rings and they usually pass them, so I think it will most likely pass, but I would let him be the one to search for it when he since he was so careless with his wedding band :-)

How big is the dog? If it's small, you should definitely take it to the vet. This could possibly cause a blockage in his/her intestines. If it's a bigger dog, then it will most likely pass through. You'll just have to get a stick or something to thoroughly look through it's poo each time it goes, until you find it. If it takes more than a couple of days or if it seems like he/she's having trouble going, then you need to take her to the vet.
That said, I think you should just go ahead and call your vet's office and see what they say. It's best to stay ahead of the problem. You don't want to have to spend lots of money on exploratory surgery because you waited too long.

Unless your dog is very tiny the ring will pass.
I have seen dogs pass all sorts of things that they have eaten.
As long as they will go down the intestinal tract it will come out. A ring is noce and round no sharp points so things should be fine in a few days.

Of course the dog will pass it out. Dogs have cast iron guts. Have fun "searching" for it. Not a job I would want to do.

This too shall pass... just wait and keep an eye out for shinies in the poop.
