Exercise and giving up all high glycemic index foods, including sweets, is best.

Apples are a sweet treat that have a moderate glycemic index, probably due to the pectin fiber content. Introduce him to Pink Lady and Ida Red and Braeburn apples, which have lots more flavor than those sugary watery "Red Delicious" things that Americans are used to. Get them in the fall red off the tree, if possible.

Tell him to walk fast for two miles every other day, or four miles with a purposeful stride at least twice a week. The idea is to get his heart rate up and make him struggle, at least a little, with rapid, deep breathing, and maintain the workout for about an hour (or two).

Apocalypse Beans and Rice Soup is a sensible low-calorie diabetic dish invented by David S, who is sadly no longer on Yahoo Answers.

If you're borderline Diabetic (type1), you need to worry more about your carb intake versus total calorie intake, any cardio twice a day (fast walking, aerobics class, etc) for at least half an hour will help to lower your blood sugar, sugar is utilized as fuel, ALL carbs, complex (fiber) and simple (all forms of sugar) turn into glycogen in your liver and is stored in case of a hypoglycemic reaction (low blood sugar), that which is not used for a reaction or burned for energy then gets turned into fat

My dietitian recommended ONE Hershey's Miniature when I get the craving for sweets versus a king size snickers, to keep your levels under control, you really need to get into carb management, spreading your carbs out between meals and snacks throughout the day to keep your blood sugar levels constant

Since I don't know your age or body type I can't really give any advice on crab intake, you should really consult a dietitian for diet guidance
I also recommend that you get an A1C (blood test) every three months so your doctor will have an overview of how your blood sugar levels have been for the past 3 months
Good luck!!!

It takes a LOT of exercising to use up the sugar intake. The best thing is just don't use much, if any, sugar.

Diabetes is a VERY dangerous disease and I would like to recommend, to you, the following:

Go to a doctor and get a glucose tolerance test. This will tell you just where you stand at this time.

DO NOT drink sugared colas. They are LOADED with sugar. Easy on the bread and red meat. Diabetes will SNEAK up on you without you knowing it. Keep checked. Good luck. Pops

Exercise would lower it but only slightly, not enough to make any difference.
You may end up with diabetes if you don't cut down on the sugar intake.
Drink sugar free or diet soda & cut right down on the sweets. Personally I'd say only eat the sweets a couple of hours before you exercise.

If you don't cut down on the sugar intake you are highly likely to become diabetic.

i don't understand how u could be at risk for high sugar levels without being a diabetic.
the calorie intake don't mean anything anymore, they go by total carbohydrates.
they don't even look at sugar intake anymore.
however, to lower your blood sugar u would have to exercise or u can do it with diet. like eating 3 meals and 3 snacks daily.

Diet and excersize combined will lower your sugar level, but you will have to cut back on some of the sugars.

Are you sure you are at risk. If so, I would suggest a good diet and exercise daily.
