(Sorry I know I have asked this before, but didn't get the responses I was hoping for) So, has anyone? I am doing it under local, not being put to sleep, in 4 days.

Just do it. I do this almost every day of the week. It will help if you take 3-4 Advil Liqui-Gel about an hour before the visit. It will also help if you get a good night's sleep and don't start your day with a half-bucket of coffee or tea. Good luck!

I am a Fully Quallified Registered Dental nurse so i do this procedure near enough every day, in general practice. local anaesthesia is the perfect way to numb the nerves that supply the teeth with blood and feelin etc. I have also had my wisdom teeth out with LA and i will be really honest, you do not feel pain. You may hear some odd and not very nice noises but no pain and the dentist should make sure of this. As long as you keep the are clean after the treatment you should have no problems. Hope this helps you , good luck!!!

Well, kind of. They put me under and I had a bronchospasm and they had to bring me out, then I heard the dentist say they would have to postpone the surgery. I told him, there was no way, to go ahead and do it. So they numbed me up and took them out, all four at once. It didn't hurt, but I was still kind of groggy from the general. If they know what they are doing with the local, you should be fine, and you won't get the bad effects from the general. However, if you are really anxious about it, you might want to think about general or having them give you something to help you relax before they do it. Good luck!

I have and what you need to do is make sure that they give you enough if you have any feeling at all then you need to tell them and they can give you more they have a limit of how much they can give you and i made them top it out they will also give you gas and the dentist will tell you that when everything starts to look fuzzy then let him/her kn ow but wait a little longer than fuzzy go on to blurry and you should not feel any pain at all just pressure but when it is over you will need pain meds for the next couple of days and you may not be able to work or go to school if you smoke (i do) you can cause yourself to get dry socket if you don't wait the amount of time that they tell you (twenty-four hours i think) i didn't listen and i ended up back to the dentist with infection and dry socket it is worth it to skip a few smokes rather than suffer for a couple more weeks than necessary

My daughter just had all four of hers pulled on Friday of last week. She got dry socket and has been back 4 times this week alone. According to her surgeon/dentist, local isnt usually recommended, putting you to sleep is easier and less traumatic (depending on age).

Depending on your age and your fear factor, i would say go full under. But if you are determined to get only a local, be prepared! I have heard people who have went through it fine and others who said it was a cake walk. The only benefit is less medicines in your body.

i have had 4 wisdom teeth pulled in the same day under local anesthesia, two of them were impacted!
just dont try to eat or drink after the procedure til way later that evening. because your mouth and lips are numb it will be impossible to try and eat and or drink without wearing it all

I have had it done under local. Let me tell you its the needles that they give you to freeze your mouth/gums that hurt. Honestly, it felt like when they stuck the needle in the roof of my mouth it touched my nose. Quite uncomfortable. I had impacted teeth too that when they tried to remove they broke which sounded horrible and alot of pressure. That was years ago though and maybe the procedure and freezing methods changed. I do recommend if you have coverage to sleep for awhile. Overall, I guess it wasn't that bad and I lived through it. Good Luck, you'll be fine whatever route you choose.

I had a molar pulled under local and it was fine. No pain while it was happening, just a little pressure. I was totally shocked at how quick the entire procedure was!

Yes, I have and it's not so bad if you have a good dentist. You will just feel some pulling and tugging...and you will also feel the shots. It's not as bad as it sounds. Of course, you will still have the recovery period whether or not you are put to sleep. Don't worry, you will be ok :)
