Yes it is normal to have borders. Non HDTV pictures are narrower than HDTV pictures, and will not fill a widescreen TV side-to-side. You cannot get rid of the borders and still have a normal picture. However, many TVs allow you to "stretch" the narrow picture so that it fills the wide screen. When this is done, it distorts the picture, but there are ways to minimize the visibility of that distortion. You have to try it to see if it bothers you, but it's certainly not natural. Go to your TV setup menu. There should be a selection for how to display 4:3 picutures on the screen: with side bars (also called "pillarboxed"), cropped (top and bottom cut off) or stretched. Pick one an try it.

You shouldnt have borders on the sides, if it were top and bottom then that would be fine cause most HD broadcast are in widescreen, but since its on the sides thats a formating issue with the tv and the reciever.

You shouldnt have borders on the perimeters, if it were authentic and bottom then which could be high-quality reason maximum HD broadcast are in widescreen, yet in view that its on the perimeters thats a formating difficulty with the television and the reciever.

Yes. Having a HD TV doesn't make all broadcasts it recieves HD. Normal TV is filmed in 4:3,, since your TV is in 16:9 it needs the boarders to display the picture correctly.

yes but you can change it by changing your aspect ratio or you may have a stretch feature that will adjust the piture size but you lose some of the piture as it expands or it may distort the pictuure also
