Take him to the vet for a checkup.

Also, if you are giving him a low quality food (sometimes even expensive foods are low quality) he will get vitamin deficiencies and get sick. (Dull eyes are one of the first signs I noticed in my own cat.)

If the the first ingredient in your cat's food is a corn product, it is a low quality food. Get a food that is mostly meat, preferably listing chicken or lamb and rice before any meat meals or byproducts.

Also, when he hits age seven do not immediately put him on senior food. He doesn't need it unless he is very fat and needs to lose weight.

I made this mistake with my first cat, and I was afraid he was going to die until I gave him good food. If you want to try it, it is called Authority and I buy it at Petsmart. Its pretty cheap to buy too.

Dull eyes maybe cataracts, difficulty with bright lights I think is something else. Take him to a vet.

Take the cat to the Vet. No one on here can diagnose a sick animal successfully and a Vet needs to look into the eyes to be able to decide what the cat has and what can be done.

The cat might have cataracts and some medicine can be given.

Because of the depletion of the ozone layer people and pets there is an increasing incidence of cataracts in people and pets. If your cat spends time outdoors this could be the cause of an eye problem.

I would certainly have your vet check it out. He may refer you to an animal opthamologist. I think surgery is sometimes done on dogs and I have never heard of it being done on a cat. If your cat is losing a significant amount of vision you may have to limit his outdoor exposure. It will no longer be safe for him to be outside if his vision is compromised.

Take the cat to the vet, it sounds like he's got vision problems of some sort, possibly cataracts.
