Every carton of eggs that I have ever seen in a grocery were refrigerated. So I can not begin to give you a reason for this.

Really? The only time I have ever seen raw, warm eggs for sale are those sold the same day they were laid on the farm. If they are not refrigerated, they will begin to rot after 2 - 3 days.& start tasting "funny".
Ever smell an egg fart? That is the smell of a rotten egg, only the egg gets much worse.

I have seen some stores display eggs outside of the cooler/ refrigerated dairy case, but I won't buy them. Also, don't store your eggs in the door of the refrigerator. They need to be kept cold to keep the bacterial growth down.

I was a Cook in the US Navy and eggs were never kept in the fridge. And they were kept in the pantry behind the oven. It used to surprise me that they would stay good over the time before being used. Sometimes it was three weeks, rarely any longer than that.

Eggs are always refrigerated just that they may not be refrigerated at the time you purchase them but they should always be kept under refrigeration.

Every store i have ever bought eggs at had them refrigerated. If you are getting them from a farmer, that is different. You have a few days for them to be ok when they are first laid.

They are refrigerated when purchased. It just says that to remind you to put them back in the fridge when you get home.

The cases they're stored in at the market are refrigerated - just like the dairy -- butter, sour cream etc.
