What is the darkening of the spirit? In your words please?

I know it is different for whatever it is you believe in, but what do you think it is. Is it to not know god? Is it to kill, but know god? Tell me in your words what do you think it is? I must say god god god god again so that this question will post.. Sorry please dont take offense

I've never heard that before. I know when I see a dark aura on a person I think of either physical illness or depression. A profound unwell state. Because the mind and body are connected.

The darkening of the spirit occurs when we intentionaly draw away from God and His presence, His teachings, and His light. We are left to stumble, searching for things to make us happy and feel uplifted, yet it is the Spirit of the Lord that can do these things for us.

To combat darkening our spirits we must read the scriptures, pray often to the Father, and mingle with the saints in church as often as possible.

i hadnt really heard of this phrase till recently ... which is good .. because i can answer in a way that is from what i see from the words and not any pre concieved ideas about them

but when i see them , i think of depression ....
when negativity clouds our spirit ...
when we cant shine as we should
when we carry heavy burdens that wear us down

of course we can know God in this state ... but feeling God with us would be difficult ..
this is how i see a darkening of the spirit

I think of it as the feeling of being separate from the rest of humanity. Connections with the rest of our species connect us to the infinite.

Misers, misanthropes and sociopaths all suffer from a darkening of the spirit, wouldn't you agree?

Darkening refers to absorbing more color. So the darkening of the spirit would mean the spirit is absorbing more color then it used too.
