Ingredients
1 and ½ cup of whole-wheat flour
¼ cup of soy flour
¼ cup of nonfat dry milk
3 tablespoons of vegetable shortening
1 egg
¼ cup of honey
¼ cup of chicken broth, or as much as you need
Pre heat the oven to 350 degrees F. Place 1 ungreased baking tray on the side.
Use a large bowl and whisk to mix the flours and nonfat dry milk together. Then use a knife to cut in the shortening until the mixture has a crumby consistency. In a separate smaller bowl, beat the egg with an electric mixer on medium speed and then beat in the honey and chicken broth. Then, blend both the dry and wet preparation together with a honey and chicken broth. together with a spoon or use your hand until it becomes a soft dough and starts to pull away from the bowl it is in.
Flour a flat surface and turn the dough onto it. Use a rolling pin to roll it out. Use a cookie cutter to cut out the cookies shapes and make sure to reuse the scraps as you go. You will notice the dough will become stiffer.
Put the healthy dog biscuit recipe cookies on the prepared baking tray and place them in the oven. Bake for around 18 to 20 minutes or until the cookies have acquired a golden brown color and look dry. Remove them from the oven and place the tray over a rack and allow the cookies to cool completely. This healthy dog biscuit recipe will bring a smile to your dog's face.

Bootch Biscuits (named after the best dog on the planet)
1 1/2 Cups unbleached flour
2 large eggs
2 Tablespoons honey
2 teaspoons creamy peanut butter
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 teaspoons garlic powder
1/2 cup rolled oats
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup vegetable shortening
Melt the peanut butter and honey in a large bowl in the microwave. Add the vegetable shortening and stir well. Add the remaining ingredients and mix to incorporate.
At this point I like to refrigerate the dough so I can shape it later, but it can be dropped by the tablespoon onto a cookie sheet and flattened with a glass.
Bake at 350 degrees for 8 minutes. Store in a zip bag or other airtight container.
Bootch usually can't wait for her cookies to bake and they are perfectly safe to give to her unbaked. This recipe can be doubled and tripled easily with no change in the end result.

Love this one....
1 6oz jar of turkey rice baby food--like Gerber's
1/4 cup Homestyle beef gravy--like Heinnz
1/4 water
2 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1 egg white with 1 tbsp milk--whisked
350 degree oven. Mix all but egg wash and roll into 1/2" thickness. Cut with bone shaped cutters (or whatever you want), expect about 1 dozen. Brush with egg wash. Bake on parchment paper for best results (to avoid sticking) for 35-45 minutes.
Cool and store in fridge as these can turn "funny" if left out. These are pretty healthy and my dog likes them.
Makes good doggie holiday gift too!
Good luck!

A GREAT FLEA AND TICK REPELLER BISCUIT!!
1 cup flour
1/4 cup wheat germ
1/4 cup brewers yeast
1 tsp. salt
1 Tablespoon. + 1 tsp canola oil
1 clove chopped garlic
1/2 cup chicken stock + 3 Tablespoon. for basting
preheat oven to 400 degrees...line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. combine flour, wheat germ, yeast, and salt in a bowl. in a separate bowl, combine oil and garlic. alternately add 1/2 cup chicken stock, to dry mixture and oil mixture. mix both dry and oil mixture together until well combined. turn out on to a floured surface and knead dough for about 2 minutes. dough will be sticky. on floured surface roll out dough to about a 1/4 inch thickness, and cut into shapes. (my pup likes the kitty shapes!) bake for 10 minutes...rotate baking sheet...baste with 3 Tablespoon of chicken stock...bake 10 minutes longer. turn off oven leaving door oven closed. leave pan for 1 1/2 hours longer.
these are more tedious than most recipes...but they really help with the fleas and ticks in our area, my dog loves them...and he is really worth the extra time!

My dogs love a bit of carrot or apple as a treat. You can use this while training them. Just one thing to point out is that too much of it in their system means that it will pass through undigested so isn't such a great idea to give too often. Can cause diarrreah - just give sparingly.
