why is it that so many muslims from overseas criticize me for being an american born muslim, saying that i am not a true muslim. my first point is that you have come to live here as well so you cannot call me a bad muslim for living here. secondly, they try to test me by asking whether i am sunni or shiite. i tell them the Qurran says you are a Muslim/Believer if you follow the Quran and traditions of the Prophet (PBUH), and they have no rebuttle. so i ask where is my folly?

I'm a British Muslim and who is criticizing you ?? Muslims are born and raised in every nation on earth. We come in all colour and creeds. I would never tell a brother or sister they are not a real Muslim. Once you have taken your shahada your a Muslim regardless of what anyone says Muslim or not. I find it hard to believe that Muslim brothers would criticize you and i question how you knew they where Muslim? was it on a site or was it face to face?

Dear brother,

I feel sorry for you if this is the case you stated. But let me tell you, don't let these things bother you. Also, you have to be patient towards them, which will make you a better Muslim then them.

It is a common but wrong perception that Muslims born in US hardly have proper idea about Islam, don't follow Islamic guidelines, don't care about Halal and Haram etc. This perception is based on the fact that the environment in countries like US are extremely non-Islamic. You will find 1000 things happening around you which are simply not allowed for us. Another source of such perception is US movies, media and culture.

Anyway, I strongly believe that kind of people are minority who need proper education and broad mind. Do not feel disheartened for their comments, rather pray for them and all Muslims.

Never brother, you are never less than any Arab Muslim, this's not my opinion, it's what prophet Mohamed (Peace Be Upon Him) told in a Hadith for him that an Arabic Muslim has excellence or priority over a non-Arabic Muslim unless he is more God-fearing than him.

By the way, I wanna seize the chance to declare that one very strong reason for misunderstanding Islam for a lot of people is that some Muslims themselves don't understand Islam right.

And finally I would be pleased if you don't get upset with these sayings you receive and stick to the RIGHT way of Islam.
Hope that Allah will gather us in Paradise with my most beloved person in this existence, Mohamed (Peace Be Upon Him).

I was born for Muslim parents, so my choices to be other than Muslim are less than people who converted to Islam. They have this advantage that they chose to be Muslim.

I live in Saudi Arabia, a total Islamic environment, where we are supposed to behave like Muslims; no challenges at all. You live in none Islamic country where you face lots of challenges and you fight all life's seductions around you for your belief. You have this advantage that you're fighting for your belief.

Why believe as a muslim? When you face the mecca? which way do you face? If you face, to the East, you are still not facing the mecca. To truely face the mecca, you must account for the curvature of the Earth. If you do not do these things, then what is the point in believing in a religion.
