The guy is manipulating you by his words and manners in private situations... In public situations, around his friends, he thinks he will look insecure and unmanly if others see his 'sweet' actions of manipulation (he's afraid that others might catch on to his games). This guy doesn't care for you... He's a loser. Sorry, that is what it seems like to me. Or maybe, the guy could be insecure with the idea of showing public displays of affection... Only you know...

because men generally have two reasons. number one is they get around their friends and can be guys. they cut up more. they are more crude about things, and a lot of times area able to be more themselves because men don't care how much other men fart or burp or talk about things. when a man is with a woman he knows that she expects him to act a certain way. if he likes her then he will act more in ways that she will accept. this is also a way that a guy doesn't want his close friends seeing due to being interpreted as weakness. so there ya go

Well, let me start by saying I HOPE you're not out of high school yet...if you are in college or older, just drop the loser right now!!!
But, in younger years, especially in our culture, men have been trained to hide and deny feelings, it makes them "weak", and anything that makes an adolescent male weak makes him a target, so he will deny the weakness in the most expedient and obvious way possible; meaning, with you he will profess his love, but around them, he will do the opposite. Stinks, but true.

They don't want to appear "soft" to their friends. It is obvious that people change their behavior and manners when they are around different people, and since he knows that you're going to always be there for him, his friends might think of him differently, and that is why he chooses to stick with his tough guy behavior when he's with his friends. Plus, guys always make fun of other guys and that is just another way of being accepted.

They are sweet when they are with their friends. The some who are not have small penises and need to feel manly in front of their big-cock friends.

It's just immaturity and insecurity. I went through that and realized that I want to show her even more attention around my friends.

he thinks that by acting this way his friends would be looking at him as the macho strong type, but if he was nice it would be like if he is the wweaker in the relationship
