You'll get people recommending exercise and a positive attitude, which are all well and good, but I've struggled with depression and have never been medicated for it and I've found the best remedy is selfless service. I think depression stems from too much focus on what you've lost or what's not working out, but for me, repairing my relationship with God and realizing I could actually make a difference in people's lives and make them happy by putting their needs before mine, made me happy. If we aren't willingly carrying our own crosses and contributing to making this a better world, I think we're gonna get depressed.

Exercising and Eating a balanced diet. I actually was on depression medicine and didn't feel a difference at all! My friends were all on it to and they felt a difference and I never did. So I stopped taking it and started exercising. I went to the gym and walked on the treadmil and I went to a walking park and walked a mile or 2 a day. I started feeling better in no time. Your body releases endorphins during exercise that make you feel better. Plus your body will start looking better so its just another thing to look foward to! I also started eating food that was high in vitamins like yougurt, cottage cheese, apples, oranges, and salads. I hope you start feeling better!

staying busy and active is probably the best remedy...push yourself to exercise...those endorphines kicking in after a good workout will help keep up away from depressive thoughts
