My nephew that age loves things he can "make" himself.

He likes to dip apple slices in peanut butter, celery sticks in cream cheese, and graham crackers in vanilla yogurt.

Fruit also works to dip in yogurt; apples, bananas, pears, anything firm and not too juicy. All of those can be dipped in the peanut butter, too. Graham crackers would also work in peanut butter, but they might break. To go REALLY healthy, try natural sugar-free peanut butter (it still tastes good, but if this kid doesn't like textured food, he won't eat it ... just a warning). Sometimes when I'm not worried about the sugar content he can dip fruit slices in a little honey (which is okay for kids as long as they're more than a year old).

I know everyone says carrot sticks and maybe even celery, in ranch dip or whatever, but my nephew won't eat carrots, and ranch dip doesn't have much nutritional value anyway. I'd rather give him two things together when both are good for him.

The best kind of snack is a fun one, that they can dip, draw on, or whatever! That's the only way to make sure they actually eat it.

I recommend veggie bootie . Fruits always work but you can cut them in shapes with the cookie cutter. Some kids love that. The skin on some fruits turn kids off so maybe you can try peeling the fruit. Cheese crackers or plain crakers with peanut butter on it. You can also give them veggies but let them have it whole with a lottle bowl of sauce to dip it in like mommie does and kids love that. You can also try steaming the veggies but not for long. Just so it would enhance the flavor but still remain hard so they can chew it. Hope this helps.

Cut a banana in half sideways and put some peanut butter and a few raisins on it. You can do the same with apple slices. My kids loved that! Cut up melon. Carrot sticks.

"Natural" and Organic snacks are always the best. Have you thought about buying a food dehydrator? My grandchildren love Beef jerky, dried fruits and anything you can think of thats natural that you can dry in a de-hyrator.
You can make chicken jerkey, beef jerkey, banana's, strawberries, ETC...Whatever you mind can imagine.
Christmas is coming...why not ask for a dehydrater and HAVE FUN with it..! Good luck...

My mom always gave us frozen grapes, or fruit mashed up and frozen in ice cube trays. Something about the cold makes it seem more like a dessert, and you don't have to worry about sugar or fat.
