I hear all the pros but what are some cons? I don't want to spend alot of money on one. Are the other brands just as good? I see Black and Decker has one out too. Other brands, any comments?

yes I saved money but then I stopped using it for a while because it seem like a lot of trouble but it was more of a hassle buying small packages for meats more often. so i started using it again. you just have to make time when you come home from the market to seal the food. if you have the time its worth the money..... buy the size that is right for you if you don't plan to use often there is no need to purchase a deluxe one with lots of attachments....but if you plan on saving different kind of items such as dry goods, meats, and marinading spend the money a get a good one. it will work out in the end, you just have to make sure to use it.

I have had my FoodSaver for a couple of years, and I use it all the time. I live alone, so when I cook I just seal up the leftovers and toss them in the freezer. It really prolongs the freezer life of meats. I also use it to seal my chips, cereal, snacks, etc. The bags can also be washed and re-used if you want. I think I paid about $50 for the model I have. They all basically do the same thing, but some are easier to use than others as far as snapping down the lid.
