Reflect on what has been going on in your life prior to the onset of the depression, even months before. Something has triggered a depressive episode for you.
If your depression is impacting your life, your relationships, your work, school, etc., it has gone on long enough to justify seeing your doctor about it and hopefully a therapist.
It would be easy just to say "don't worry, be happy" but in reality, depression has a cause, either a trigger (event) and/or a disruption in your electro-chemical balance.

I'm curious if this is cyclical for you, in the sense of the time of year. Many, many people suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder, where the decreasing sunlight causes you to become depressed. If this is the reason, you can buy a special light machine that you use for a half hour in the morning . . . it would work well IF this is the cause of your malaise.
However, if you are suffering from anything more serious I would recommend you check out something called EMPowerplus, which is a supplement that actually heals the brain if you have a central nervous system disorder such as clinical depression or bipolar illness. This particular supplement changed my life; after spending 2 years of severe debilitating depression (and many years of background depression before that) where the most energetic thing I could manage was to pray that some day joy would return to my life, it did, with the help of this product.
Just an idea. Take care.

First of all -- HAPPINESS does NOT come from some EXTERNAL SOURCE - instead ...
HAPPINESS is really a 'State of Mind' -- it comes from WITHIN you ..
So instead of being depressed and sad -- look around you -- the people who you talk to and talked to -- the people who have helped you or placed a little bit of kindness in your life, the family you have (even if they can be irritating at times), the place you live, the things you have around you, the food you eat, and ...
BE HAPPY you are where you are at -- where you can freely write what you want to write, where you can go where you want to go, and live where you want to live.
In the meantime -- do something you would NOT normally do -- if you go to bars -- try going to a lecture at the Museum, if you stay in the home -- walk around a zoo, if you watch a LOT of TV -- go outside with a Digital Camera and take LOTS of images of Nature --
This Something Different can lead you to a NEW and Fascinating experience -- and ... more than likely ... NEW Friends -- People who enjoy the experiences of these events.
Because as you go through life changes, the desires for friendships transform to -- from the selfishness of the teenage years to the "oh, Adulthood IS hard" to "I'm a Parent Now" to "FINALLY an Empty Nest"!
Each stage mirrors your life progression. So go out there, find a new thing to do over the weekend, and go with the attitude that you'll have FUN and .. DO IT!

Decide to focus your energy on helping others. Look for ways to enrich the lives of those around you at school, work, neighborhood, your city.
Is there hospital near your home in which you could volunteer? Is there an older person in your church who needs some help with grocery shopping? You might also contact the local chapter of the American Cancer Society or the Ronald McDonald house and volunteer your services. If you enjoy animals, you might also consider volunteering at the local Humane Society.
The point is, don't stay home and think about how sad YOU feel. You will find that as you attempt to make the lives of others happy, you will become happier yourself.

Well look at the circumstances or situations in your life curently that are new and pick out the ones that are making you so upset. Depression is not an abnormal thing...heck I suffer from it. You could also go see your trusted physican and have him offer some light medication to help. Good Luck!!

Identify why you are sad or depressed, what's going on in your life to make you this way. then talk about it with a counselor or professional and learn how to resolve what is making you sad and depressed.

Well, your avatar looks happy! But anyway, i use to be depressed, but if I were you, you should see a therapist, they can give you Zoloft, but if you don't want your happiness to be based on the pill, you should try and do things that make you happy.

every one has ups and downs but if your having more downs than ups, you may want some profesional help. find something you really enjoy and focus on it wether it be artwork or music or what ever. if that doesn't work, talk to a doctor or a pshcologist.
