Someone told me that they would tell me the truth about love and then they "pulled the rug out from under me" just when I gave in so completely to him. I understand that there are no guarantees in this life but I think I am being told that there is no real love other than self love and love of God. Is this the truth?

The truth is what rests beneath your hurt; it runs pure and unadulterated beneath your sense of betrayal; it is the sense you have that even through this pain, you ask a question, seeking to bring yourself out of pain, into truth, which you never left, and which could never leave you: it is love without opposite.

Truth is what you make it. If you believe that "there is not real love other than self love and love of God," then believe in it.

Personally, I didn't believe two human beings could deeply love each other until I met the man I'm in love with. Now, I believe in love on a level I never thought I would experience.

That is my truth. Other people may think I'm fooling myself while even others may agree with me. So, I repeat myself, but truth is what you make of it.

God is love, all love is and comes from Him- because he so loved the world, He sent His only begotten son.

Real love is not an emotion which is wavering und undependable. Real love is a choice- real love is putting someone else's needs and desires above your own, honoring one another above yourself, humbling yourself for the sake of the other regardless of the cost. It is not common because so many are taught to be selfish , such as the truth is what you want it to be- that is selfish and self serving. God is not selfish- He loved us so much that He humbled Himself that we may have a way to have eternal life with Him.
Love is something you choose, it is something you put into practice, it is not something that just happens. You keep loving , even when something is not going your way- that is true love.

You had the 'rug pulled from under you' because you were looking outside of yourself for answers. Everything you will ever need to know in life - about life - is found within you already. That is truth.

True Love, Love without Condition, that is, seems impossible to find. If you ask a Xian they tell you "God loves you, as long as you believe in Jesus." To me, that sounds conditional. All religions, at least the Biggest ones, seem to attach a condition to God's love. My answer from what I have learned is the only true love is self-love. It sound lonely but so is life.

Do you see what Im saying? Look at Xian answers. All about Jesus

Jesus said, I am the Way, the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except through Me." Jesus is Truth. Look to Him. Men will fail us everytime but Jesus won't.

Ephesians 4:21
if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus:
Beware of men

Human love is usually conditional. Parents struggle to love their kids if they continue to disobey, marriages fail because people want different things. God`s love is unconditional. It was while we were still sinners that Jesus died for us.
