ok, this guy installed a new audio system in my car and three cables came out of the amp today. There is a black and red one and i'm guessing that they go to the - and + slots... black= - right??

then there was a blue wire that came out as well. There are 3 empty slots that it can go in.... R- , L- or REM. Which one should it go in?

should i disconnect the car battery while doing this? give me some tips about what i should and shouldnt do, i want to learn!

What's an easy way to keep the wire's in place? is it safe to drive around with those wires unplugged??

please answer if you know what to do.

ten points to whoever gives me the best answers.

r- = right speaker negative
l- = left speaker negative
REM= REMOTE wire(thats it)

Just make sure the car is off and you dont have the key in the ignition. Be careful and don't touch the hot wire. If you really want to be safe just remove the fuse from the power wire of disconect the battery. I never do but then again i do this a lot.

They should be screwed down. if the wire is thin i like to splice about an inch and fold it then screw it down.

Basically all car amps have 3 terminals, Live, Negative (earth) and REM (Remote). The Live terminal is connected directly to the battery, and usually a RED wire is used. Then a BLACK wire is connected to the Negative (earth) terminal. The other end of this wire is usually connected directly to the car's chassis (by means of using a bracket and screwing it directly to the nearest bolt on the chassis). Finally the REM (Remote) terminal is connected to your head unit. This allows the amp to be turned on and off when you power on/off your head unit. This one usually uses a BLUE wire. It's a good safety measure for you to disconnect the battery terminals when doing this.

An easy way to keep the wires in place would be to strap them together with a cable tie. Lastly, it's NOT safe to drive around with the wires unplugged. See, the other ends of the wires are still connected to the battery and grounding point. So if they happen to touch, they could short circuit.

Your Red wire should be the Positive line, the Black is your Ground wire, and the Blue wire is the remote on from the car stereo.

Your R- is for a speaker wire, the L- is for a speaker wire also. So I wouldn't try putting the Power wires into those slots, unless you are using black and red coated wires for speaker wire, which, if the only spots open on the amp are those 3 choices, then red is (+) and black is (-) the REM is for that Blue wire.

Generally, the blue wire is indeed for remote, which i would say the rem is short for. Make sure there is no power to anything when you plug these wire in.

I say they are the two packed with crap. one greater battery will do not something to assist dimming lights, because of the fact the reason the lights dim is the voltage drop that occurs from the alternator voltage dropping to the battery voltage. including a 2d battery does not something to extend voltage. including a cap can help for an particularly VERY VERY short 2d ( we are conversing fractions of a 2d right here). Dimming lights isn't a reason to apply a cap. the main significant situation a cap will do is delicate out the voltage fluctuations. additionally, the only reason to apply greater battery's is for listening to the radio with automobile grew to become off for prolonged classes of time. it is it. i don't comprehend what this kinetics situation is, yet i'm assuming that's such as a bat-cap. valueless.

black - negative ground
red - positive battery
blue - remote

disconnect your battery's negative terminal before you do this.
