I understand Athiests just fine. What I don't understand is how a belief system that is supposed to be so "enlightened" can produce some of the most irracible, arrogant people I have ever had to deal with.
I have met fleetingly few Atheists who strive to "better the world" outside of insulting and attacking everything they disagree with.
As for man being the only one who can save man, well... given the chances of that happening, the historic tract record of man's success at this, and the overal limitations of mankind, that is by far and wide one of the most depressing and hopeless things I have ever heard anyone say ever. Mankind is infinitely more likely to destroy itself and everything it associates with hundreds of times over before it'll save anything.
But I'm a 5th degree pessimist when it comes to humanity - what do I know?

How do you expect Christians to just 'understand' everything you just said. I saw this movie, The Laramie Project, where this minister said something like, "The Lord's word is either sufficient or it's not! According to the Bible it looks like the world is actually 5000 years old! The Word is either sufficient or its not!" See, Christians who believe that can't understand relatively simple things like physics or science in general, how willing do you think they'll be when it comes to changing their perspective. Some people are frankly so clueless they cannot think critically.
You can't solve the world's problems so easily, no one can. The way it looks, we better hope these Christians and Muslims are right about the Second Coming because the world needs serious help.
Here's the full quote,
“The word is either sufficient,” says the minister, “or it is not. Scientists tell me that the world is five billion or six billion years old. The Bible tells me that human history is six thousand years old. The word is either sufficient, or it is not.”

if you truely understand christianity you would not be an atheists.[would you?] the diffrent between atheists/ christian we are not of this world we are morer concerned with where our soul spend eternity then the thing's of this world for all thing's of the world will pass away but god word will not and this is what gives us hope in times of trouble so go ahead take care of your world. for it will soon be rotten away. man cannot save man we beleive that the only way man can be saved is through beleiveing[accepting] that jesus christ is god son and that he died and rose again and is now on the right hand of the father to interceed for our every need i don't want to understand your way for it is walking in darkness

You know I'm a christian and I understand you. Your point of view is logical, but I like to believe in an afterlife. I respect atheists and I respect christians. I believe the christian point of view and your point of view make sense. I just believe Jesus is savior. I like the christian point of view and I am a Christian.

i don't find it hard to understand atheists. and that is a nice thought if it were true. man is cruel to man. they seek their own interests. it so nice here in North America because we have built our country on slavery and suffering of the rest of the world. even in Mexico they are happy to get a job that pays the equivalent of 4 dollars a day. they are our slaves working endlessly to assemble things for us. we invade countries and kill, mame and injure civilians for the purpose of stabilizing oil prices. within the free market large companies exploit the population. governments seek to control and seek to take away a persons rights and freedoms.

Save man with what? You don't recognize a higher power, where do your morals or any Truth come from? The collective populace? Government? Yourself? I don't trust any of the above to make my world a "better" place, and I know where my morals come from. There must be a God, to deny this is foolishness.

Nice try, but as you see from your answers most religious people hate this world and everybody in it. You might be able to increase your understanding of religious and how religion works if you accept that they like to live in a fantasy.

Yes I do. Thank You.
I used to Think it would be Nice if everbody Else (that didn't Believe "Now") would be a member of this one religion "XX" (cause they try to do Good). But now, with that Explanation of yours, I am starting to Think that it would be Better if Everybody Else was like You Guys!
Yeh, I Think you got those "XW"s Beat!
Thanks, will Never Forget!
(maybe you should write a book, your Good at Explaining Things).

Great job explaining it.
Of course... use a little logic and all the Christians are up in arms and calling you a liar. rofl
Nothing new. They can't understand because they refuse to understand. Their own fear prevents them from facing facts because they don't want to admit atheists have a point.

We understand you, because we were once atheists. We're all born atheists.
But you don't understand us, because you have never been a born again Christian.
And don't try saying some people used to be Christians. God doesn't make mistakes and give out His Holy Spirit to people who do not truly give of themselves to Him first. So many people think they were once Christians and left, but they were never truly Christians to begin with. Being a Christian means more than you can imagine.
