Most important is to wear something comfortable, i.e. not tight. Nobody looks cute after a 24 hr flight - trust me!
What really helps is a small spray bottle (3 oz. or under) of water, or toner or something called Face Sprinkle. Your face will need to be hydrated throughout the long flight. Also take some type of lip gloss or chap stick as you lips will get dry. Really.
Do drink lots of water - your system will need it. Also, bring a pair of comfy socks - you will want to wear them all the time especially when walking to the wash room - after a long flight the bathroom gets pretty grungy. Toss the socks after the flight - Yuk!
Shoes: Your feet will most likely swell during the flight so wear shoes that will leave room for that. A good way to help that problem is to place your feet flat on the floor, lift your feet up and down with the heels remaining on the floor, with heels on floor, swing your feet back and forth, do take walks up and down the aisle.
The above suggestions are also good - but even those in first class who arrived "cute" won't look that way at the end of the flight.
Have fun. :)

Whatever you wear, wear 100% cotton and long sleeves. In an "incident" cotton has been shown to be more effective at holding off flames. Synthetics will just melt to your skin and give 3rd degree burns.
Plus, cotton is breathable.
So, you have a choice of "cute" or "dead or dying"... you choose.
(And why do you care about being cute on a 24 hour trip? Just be whatever the first 23 1/2 hours, then go into the lav for prep work just before landing.)

It really depends on what you are most comfortable in.
I would definitely dress in layers.... because some planes are cold others hot.
Don't forget to pack an outfit for your destination, that you can slip into when you land.
Where in the world are you going with a 24 hour flight???

Tie it up on the right of your head, fountain kind! (think of thats what the final answer meant by ability of bun). That way you dont mess it up whilst your snoozing and so on. I do this each and all of the time and that i fly ALOT of long haul flights (even with the undeniable fact that Im a dude and the only reason I do this's to not appear like a stoner as quickly as I get off the airplane...customs and what not:P) once you get on your trip spot you only tie it back back.

Try a comfortable wrap-around dress (with sensible shoes...). Try to wear your hair down (more comfortable when sleeping, but remember to have a hair elastic handy if you need it.
**Just remember to pack all that you would need for at least 24/48hrs in your carry on (toothbrush, sweater or jacket, underwear, make-up, etc...) This way IF they misplace your luggage you'll still be OK for a day or so while they locate it.

well it depends on where you are going to land....you wouldn't want to go to Hawaii and land and be dressed in full winter clothes...or you wouldn't want to land in Canada and be dressed in shorts and flip flops....
