I think it actually might be more helpful if you repost this question with more details and specifics to your question. It would help to know what age level you are teaching, for example, preschool, kindergarten, elementary, middle school, or high school. If you repost I have book suggestions for preschool through middle school (haven't taught high school age yet), but I'm not sure what age you are looking for at this point. Are you looking for book recommendations for reading, history, science, all subjects, etc.? Also do you know if you plan to do a traditional homeschooling method using books and workbooks or more of an unschooling method?

Regardless of which method you use, I would highly recommend the homeschooling books by Rebecca Rupp. She is a very informative author and I have used her books repeatedly. Her books are: Home Learning Year by Year: How to Design a Homeschool Curriculum from Preschool Through High School," which can help you figure out what to cover each year curriculum-wise if you are trying to figure that out, and "The Complete Home Learning Source Book: The Essential Resource Guide for Homeschoolers, Parents, and Educators Covering Every Subject from Arithmetic to Zoology" is a huge resource book which is useful for figuring out unit studies, curriculum, etc. It is at most libraries, you can check it out at yours, which is what I did, and then I wound up buying it because I used it so often. A final book of hers is one which I would actually suggest is a good book to start with which is her "Getting Started on Home Learning: How and Why to Teach Your Kids at Home".

It would have been helpful if you had stated the ages/ abilities of the children concerned.
Texts need to be carefully chosen in order that a) they are too east and therefore insufficiently demanding or b) too difficult and therefore daunt or put off the child from further research.
I hate to sound prissy but that is what teachers train to do.
Do you think you ought to be reconsidering your decision to 'teach' your children at home?

Go to your local library. They should have a ton of stuff. If not, do a search through Amazon to see what's out there and pick what looks like it will meet your needs best.

Also consider doing an online search for homeschooling methods or styles. Lots of information available there.
