ive heard of some people putting ford 460s in their mustangs im wondering if it is a good idea. and im wondering if the auto matic transmission, motor, motormounts, and gears out of the rear end would work in my mustang, its a 1984 ford mustang.

with enough time money and foul language anything is possible , however the car will be terribly nose heavy and not be able to corner well at all , the folks above are right , the 351 is the better choice for your little fox body.

Many companies have kits for this swap. Try one called
Canton Racing Products. They have headers, mounts,
oil pans, etc. The 460 is easy to get big power and torque
from for not much money. Had one in my '66 Fairlane
that turned low 12's and ran on pump gas. Way better
than my old 427. This is one stout motor. However,
they are longer, taller, and wider than even the FE motors
and lots heavier. Good luck. I think you will like it!!

everything would have to be changed,the 460 is a big block and wieghs a lot more as well so the suspension needs work as well,you will also need to do lots of engine bay mods just to get the 460 to fit,then you will have to try to find somewhere for the rad to fit as this engine is longer as well,you dont say whats in it now,you will more than likely need a beefier rear axle as well

302 crate or 352 crate motor would be better.
