i would vote for any party that said they would bring it back. it will give all these kids on the street corner some direction in there lifeand instill some respect .respect for themselves and for other people, the kids these days arent all bad they just to be taught how to be decent people as they never seem to be taught this at home.

You might be on to something here. I have just left the Army last year, there is an increasing retention problem. Not just from the lower ranks but Senior NCOs. The TA are being used to even more to fill commitments over seas. You still have the reservist list. I served 7 years so i will be on the reservist list for a further 15 years. There will loads of like me that will be called up first. I cant see there will be any need for the man on the street to pull on the uniform, unless there is a major conflict with a country that has an advanced army similar to our own, where the casualty figures will resemble that of WW2.

Whole world is going Military, Adolphs dream has come to fruition. The State is where the power lies, and if you are not helping the State, you are an enemy of the State.
Karl Marx is laughing in his grave, as Trotsky and Xio Lien giggle in the ground.
Its a New World Order baby, when you Brits have to give up the Pound Sterling for Euros, and then US does the same, its all over.
Or it is just a start of a new world peace.
Options are great, in practice.

I'm all for it, I would have done it as soon as I left school...I think it will help so many problems that we have in this generation of obese, troublemakers!!! honestly it would sort out the obese kids, it would put some self discipline into all these asbo collectors!!!! It didnt do them any harm before so why not give it another go. I would actually vote for something or someone who wanted to bring it back

Not at all. In theory, we have weapons that are individually more destructive than multiple weapons carried and used by hundreds of men. We shall need fewer men in future wars, as the fighting is button pushing from men sitting at desks. Also with computerised firing,( providing the initial information on the enemy is correct) then the job of the front-line foot soldier will become obsolete.

No chance. Public opinion wouldn't allow it. People oppose military action strongly now and that's with a paid up volunteer army.
