I'm not an atheist, I'm an agnostic and I would never pray to something that may not even be there. I find to prayer to be useless. How will it help you on a hijacked plane? Or when you are dying.. it won't stop death. If a deity even exists, I will find out after death.. and if one does.. who says it is the christian incarnation of it?

I'm not making any motions until I see that such motions would be reasonable to do.

In other words, unless evidence convinces me that a deity exists I will not be assuming its existence and praying to it.

Not to mention, one does not know if the deity in question should even be prayed to, never mind its existence...

PS: "Defiant" is a very odd choice of word... it seems like you are presupposing the existence of a deity when you use it the way you did.

It is not a matter of being defiant. How can someone pray to a god who does not exist?

Do you understand now?

I hope I'll have the wits about me to use my brain in a hi-jack situation. I would hate to ask something imaginary to intervene in a life-threatening situation.

On my deathbed? I won't pray. I'll spend the time remembering the good times I've had in my life instead of being afraid.

All i will pray to is my deceased parents ,in the hope you do meet loved ones in the end
They were truly what I believed in .
By the way am I being defiant to you ?
No god ever asked me to pray to him, only people who believe in him did .
Soory ,no proof ,no follow "YOUR" rules .

I think I'd snap a CD in half and go at the SOB that hijacked the plane, is what! I'd rather take action instead of waiting for someone ELSE to do things for me.

Of course I wouldn't pray. I wouldn't become delusional right before death

I would be happy knowing I discovered the truth about the only life I Iived

You seem to be confusing atheism with defiance. I'm an atheist becauser I don't BELIEVE in a god, not because I'm defying beliefs of people I feel can't think for themselves. Belief in god is akin to believing in the tooth fairy. I'm HIGHLY unlikely to change that view.

Do you think religionists will ever dispense with mindless fantasies or will they be defiant to the end?

Yes! Just like on christmas eve! All those people who deny Santa turn around and come to him.

Besides, as god, do I really want people who are only believing out of fear. Yuck! That kind of god isn't worthy of worship.
