One of the best ways to bring things together is with fabric. Coose a fabric that has the majority of colors(or the main colors) in it and use that as your curtains, pillows, and other accessories. Also picking out accessories (like vases, frames, ect.) in same or simular colors will help tie a room.

Choose a color scheme. Not more than three main colors in one room. Place your furniture in a room so that it doesn't look cluttered. It's important when entering a room to have a free middle space. Less furniture is more impressive than too much. Hold back on those knickknacks, dolls and artificial flowers. They make a room look cheesy. Rather buy a few beautiful items that you like, which may be expensive, then allot of (made in China items). Beige tones are harmonious. Brighten then up with pretty pillows. Also painting one wall darker than another wall is a homey effect. Have fun!
