I want to get me ear pierced at the top. And I was wondering if it really does hurt!!? And what can you do to num your ear so the pain wont do so bad.

First of all make sure you get it pierced by a professional, that will help reduce the pain. Before you have it done you could take some painkillers in preperation and ice your ear. When you are actually having it done make sure you concentrate on taking deep breaths in and out as this will help null the shock!

It will hurt only where the skin is really thick...there are no blood vessels or nerve endings in cartilage...so pinch yourself where you want to get it...is the skin thick? Then yes you will feel it....

But if you are looking to numb the area...ice is going to be your best bet..unless you can get your hands on some topical Novocaine or Ambisol.

Yes, it does hurt very much unless you numb it! Try holding ice cubes in a paper towel up to it. It should numb eventually.
