It is important to find a bible teaching church and become part of the body of Christ to help you grow in your walk with the Lord. Read the Bible daily. You will find it easier to understand if you read it with a daily devotional magagine such as The Daily Bread or In Touch by Dr. Charles Stanley, which is on line at the above web site. Set at time aside daily to talk to God in prayer. Your prayers should include 1. Affirmation of God's character, confession, thanksgiving and supplication. (ACTS). If your church is a bible teaching church, they should practice believers baptism. You should be baptized out of obedience to Christ, but it is not required before salvation, but should be done after you become a believer. Welcome to the family of God. God Bless you in your walk with Him.

As to working out your salvation it comes from a growing relationship with God through Jesus. You read the Bible and pray and seek to obey what God has said in his written word.

They receive the gift by believing that Jesus Christ died on the cross for their sins. They must repent of their sins. If you ask you will be forgiven. Everyday salvation comes with prayer. We must thank God everyday for His blessings and the sacrifice of His son and we must study the Holy Word to gain more knowledge into what and who we are in Christ. We fall short of His glory everyday for none of us are perfect. Therefore we must ask forgiveness everyday. God loves you no matter who you are or what you have done. He just wants you to turn to Him and hand over the everyday problems we face. But you have to let them go. I know from experience that you can pray and pray and still nothing changes but instead of laying it all down on the alter and leaving it for Him we reach back and pick up one small piece and stick it back into our pockets. Thinking sometimes that we can solve the problem ourselves. God is there for us and He wants us to turn our worries over to Him. He hears every prayer and He answers in His own time. Just keep the faith. God bless you for your question. I know I said more than you probably wanted to hear but I am so overjoyed with my salvation that I love to share it with everyone.

One does not recieve the free gift of everlasting life at a certain time. It has already been given, but by desiring it you will come to see that it has been given.. When you desire it will be a reality to you. As for the second question....it is different for everyone. Praying is major, but there is many types of prayer. Dont pray to get something, pray to recieve something. (IE i suggest contemplative prayer or medatative prayer) although God leads different people to different things.

Repent (turn from your sins and turn to God)
be baptized (in water as a public demonstration of your faith)
and receive the Holy Ghost (to help teach you what sin is and to help you overcome them.

Every day spend time reading the Bible, ask for forgiveness for any sins that you have done that day (or the last time you asked), spend time in His presence in prayer and at church.
