Don't look for them. They don't stay still. Treat your cat with a flea powder and then let him spend the night someplace else. Maybe in the yard in a cat crate. Bomb your house with a flea and tick bomb. The packaging will tell you how many bombs to how much area. You will have to treat again because the eggs usually hatch in a few days.

if your talking about a cat if its a young one you can coat the cat with cooking oil. this smothers the flees. after awhile you can comb the cat to get the fleas out of the coat, then either give the cat a warm bath in a little bit of dawn detergent or let him clean himself. the cooking oil won't hurt the cat. i have done this on kittens and it works. its better than chemicals.

use the flea stuff recommended by your veternarian. even though it is spendy, i've found it works much better than store bought. we treated our cat for 3 months or so with the stuff and the fleas went away - no need to flea bomb the house or anything (which is not great for your health, especially your kids' health if you have any). we did also vaccuum everything really well, including sofa cushions and other places where our cat would lay.

i used deep woods off. its not a poison and it tastes just as bad to the fleas as it does to the dog. if youve ever gotten it in to your mouth you know what i mean. its not a poison as it dont kill mosquitos, just as a repellent. works great on fleas. get the unscented kind though. fleas will be gone quickly too
