I am fixing a stainless steel pipe for cooling system.I need to connect a male connector(male thread) and socket (female thread). Is there any compound to apply prior to fix the threads so that there will be no leakage? This pipe will carry R22 gas for cooling.Thanks.

Pipe thread compound, or "pipe dope" is available in any hardware store. Just make sure you get one that says it is rated for gas or steam usage, but I believe they all are. If you think using teflon tape might be easier to apply for your specific job, you could use that too, but if you do make sure you get the yellow tape that is coded for gas use.

Rap the male threads in a clock wise direction with Teflon tape about two layers thick, the put the fittings together. .

If u r too much conscious about zero leak, then u should go for weld joints. If threaded joint fittings were already procured then go for seal welding with GTAW after thread tightening

You should get a certified technician. You may be breaking the law, as there are restrictions concerning usage.
