They both mean the same thing.
Ex. If someone is bothering you, you pray that leave you alone.
When something happens to that person or they stop bothering you, your prayers have been answered

When you see a wild turkey in the woods,and you want to eat it, your preying on that animal, just like you prayed on that person.

that is from between the very many people who loudly declare that spelling and grammar isn't significant! "Prey " is an animal hunted and killed for nutrition; "pray" is an act of worship to a god
