We don't want to have any guests at all. Just me, her and a priest, then retreat to a gorgeous hotel for the honeymoon. If anyone has eloped or knows someone who has, how did they do it? Did they call a priest ahead of time, and told him they'll be stopping by for a wedding? Are there places near Eastern PA, or the NJ and NY area that are there just to conduct weddings for eloping couples?

My husband and I eloped to Long Beach Island in NJ about 45 minutes from Cape May. (Cape May is very beautiful, old victorian town on the beach and near Altantic City.) We took my best friend and her fiance as witnesses and got married. We had a justice of the peace marry us on the beach. We had to get a marriage license and wait the time period. (NY has a waiting period too) And we also got permission from LBI City hall to get married on the beach. But we planned it all in two weeks. So it is possible to do it quickly. Good luck in your marriage and life.

You're going to need two witnesses. Don't you each have a friend who can be there? A first time wedding can never be repeated and if you miss out on it, you may regret it in the future, especially your wife. I remember walking down the aisle and seeing the look on my future husband's face, the wonderful reception we had and everyone, family and friends, there to share in our special day. That's alot to blow off for a gorgeous hotel.

Contact American Association of Wedding Officiants. Some of us are listed on bridal sites. Or type into your search engine your city, state & wedding officiant. Alot of priests will not/cannot do weddings outside of their church. Might be able to find a retired one if your HAVE to have a priest.

Alot of us [officiants/ministers] will come to whatever site you have chosen, be it a hotel suite, outdoor gazebo, some even have their own study or chapel in which to perform ceremonies.
