Atheist versus agnostic?

From the American Heritage Dictionary:

Agnos·tic - One who believes that there can be no proof of the existence of God but does not deny the possibility that God exists.

Atheism 1.a. Disbelief in or denial of the existence of God or gods. b. The doctrine that there is no God or gods. 2. Godlessness; immorality.

In other words,
the agnostic doubts that God exists but leaves the finding of God open as a possibility ("gnosis" knowing, seeing; "a" not)

The atheist denies that God exists ("a" not; "theo" God).

This raises the question, "How could we prove God?"

God has no image, says the Bible. That is, with scientific means as practiced nowadays in a materialistic way, we will not be able to prove God!

However, advanced logic may lead us to realize that their must a God, Creator of all things and in all things, as the Bible states.

Good question. Thanks.

Atheist by definition is one who does not believe in existence of God or a higher power who is the architect of all that we survey. Agnostics are the one who neither believe nor disbelieve in God. According to them such a discussion is not desirable since it only wastes time and doest not yield any fruitful results. Buddhism is an agnostic religion. Lord Buddha argued that there are so many pressing problems such as Sickness, poverty, Old age, Death confronting mankind. Instead of solving these immediate problems, Humanity should not waste its time debating endlessly "whether God exists" for which there are no results in any case.

An Athiest does not believe in God (ANY God, it's got nothing to do with Christianity)

An Agnostic believes that there might be a God, but does not know which God to believe in, or how to worship Him/Her (gnosis means knowledge)

Atheists think that I don't exist. Nor do any other gods.

Agnostics think that it's impossible to prove whether or not I and other gods exist. They are like that tootsie pop advertisement. "How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop? The world may never know."

BTW - they're all going to buuuuurrrrrnnnnn! :) have a nice day
