There are academic, achievement, and personal characteristic scholarships. The academic is based on either GPA or test scores. Achievement could be in sports, clubs, or even winning a contest like the spelling bee. Characteristic could be in areas such as being left handed, an ethnic group, religion and more. If you are in high school, they have a list of local scholarships available to its students. Also, join several scholarship search websites because most offer a specialized search. In addition, it is never too early to start searching for scholarships once in high school. Good luck!

Check your local library, there are tons of scholarship books....you can even get a scholarship if you are left-handed...some of the scholarships in those books are insane...but they are completely legit
