Hi. My doc wrote me an Rx for glasses after having eye infection caused by contact lenses. Glasses seem to be nice, but not clear as contacts, like objects are not clear, and side vision is impaired...
Any ideas why? Can they worsen my eye-sight?
Thanks,

P.S. I am planning get back on contacts....

I've found after wearing contacts for a long time, it's almost like my eyes adjust and my vision without contacts gets worse. Maybe it's psychological, but it seems that way. As far as health risks, I can't see any that contacts present as long as you don't leave them in all night.

Your 'less' or 'blurry' vision with your glasses is not because of spectacles having 2 refracting surfaces. Even contact lenses have 2 refracting surfaces, otherwise how would it be called as a CONTACT 'LENS'.
Well this less or blurry vision is called "Spectacle blur".
Contact lenses provide you with a better vision because they conform your anterior corneal surface forming a thin tear lens which masks the irregular surfaces of the cornea making it better and smoother for refraction to occur.

Also contact lenses lowers the oxygen availability of the cornea (as our cornea gets its oxygen from atmosphere) thus changing its metabolism and helping it to swell up. This swelling becomes prominent when one switches back to spectacles thus giving the patient "Spectacle blur".
the swelling is more marked in patients who have an infection or an inflammation in the eye.

dont worry, this will not worsen your eyesight. its only a phase, will go in a few days.

Contacts help you see better because the light entering the eye is not refracted twice. With glasses, the light hits the lens, then air, then your eye. With contacts, the light hits the lens and then your eye without the air inbetween. This is what makes vision with contacts so much clearer.

Glasses won't make your vision worse, but I personally have problems with depth perception when I switch back and forth between contacts and glasses.
