I'm planning to buy a computer to be used primarily by my kids (currently 3.5 and 1.5 years old). Any suggestions?

Apple makes computers that are specifically for kids and more durable. They come in themes like Barbie computers.

A real computer?? I hope not. Plus don't think it's a good idea! As much as kids spend watching tv, don't think they need something else to stare at all day long! If you really want to. I would just take them to a toystore and have them pick out a leap from or vsmile! But not the video game types. the book types! those are better and you can guy them more books jsut as easily as you can games for the computer or whatnot! GOOD LUCK!

Given the fact that computers are outdated before you leave the store you purchase them from, your children would probably be better served not to have a computer purchased for them until they are closer to the age whereby they will be able to utilize it for learning/school purposes, more like 6 - 8 years old.

In the meantime there are a number of learning devices that simulate computers (in looks and capabilites, to the extent that they would need) that are excellent tools to teach thinking processes as well as getting your children comfortable interacting with a keyboard and monitor, check Leapfrog, VTech and Fisher Price out.

Good luck

I bought my 3 year old son a laptop last year for Christmas and he just loves it. Check out the links I added so you can see. My son has the Fisher Price one. Not only does he feel cool that he has his own laptop, but he's learning as he plays with it. Also they're under $30!! Hope this helps!
