Dehydration is the loss of water and salts from the body. You become dehydrated when you lose these two things more rapidly than you intake them (e.g. strenuous physical activity in hot weather, excessive vomiting, continued diarrhea, side effects of some medications).
There are no symptoms in the early stages of dehydration (perhaps a feeling of thirst), but as dehydration increases, you will see restless or irritable behaviour, cramping, headaches, dry mucous membranes, flushed face, cannot pass urine normally, dizziness, weakness, sunken eyes, drowsiness, dry mouth.
As it becomes more severe you are prone to: lowering of blood pressure, fainting, bloating, heart failure, convulsions, loss of skin elasticity, diminished consciousness, cool moist extremities, peripheral cyanosis and of course, death.
