Why can't you use your search engine on the internet?
Try to type in the name of your town in the search area.
When it comes up, click on it and see if there is an area for that information. Or you could call your local library and ask them to give you the web site to get the information that you need.

See if your local library, town hall or chamber of commerce can direct you to a web site.

www.information-britain.co.uk is always a good place to start, contains basic historical information and links to historical research sites, otherwise, check out the DCMS, (department for culture, media and sport website, it has links to your local council and to tourist info websites, it's a bit utilitarian but it will get you what you need.
