I am 7 mos pregnant & am a student working full-time struggling to make it from paycheck to paycheck...I have a mouthful of dental issues & nearly no $$$. I can't hardly smile without pain let alone eat & have headaches all the time but no dentist wants to help & every "low-income" dentist i've been to has left me hurting worse! I looked into pro-bono dentists but no luck. I want to be able to smile again without pain at the wonderful things God has blessed my life with such as my 18 month old baby boy Logan...does anyone know where I can get help??? I don't have the thousands of dollars to fix all the problems in my mouth....

Contact your local or state dental association and and see if there are any dentists who provide free or reduced cost care for low-income, disabled or senior patients.

Call your local health department and ask about health centers that provide dental care for free or on a sliding scale.

Your local United Way may also be aware of such a clinic. In some areas, you can reach them now by dialing 2-1-1 for "non-emergency information."

Go to a dental school, if there is one near you, for reduced costs.

Check http://www.toothwoman.net to see if low-cost or free dental services are available near you.

Check http://bphc.hrsa.gov and choose "Find a Health Center" to see if there is a low-cost clinic near you.

Check http://www.nfdh.org/DDS.html to see if your state has a "Donated Dental Services" program. D.D.S. is designed to locate dentists who will give free care to patients who are financially compromised due to medical problems. This is a process that will take a couple of months to get your information and then arrange for someone to see you. Not all states have D.D.S. programs.

If worse comes to worse, check out http://www.prosper.com and see if you can find a funding source.

Depends on what country you're from, but being a student may cover you for basic dental care, if you're a Canadian. You're most likely an American, so I'm not sure exactly what you can do, but speak to the human resources at your school to see if there is any sort of insurance you may be eligible to get.. Have you ever considered going to the Dentistry department at your school, or any dental school around? Although you will have students working on you, it will either be very cheap, or free. Don't forget students will often try to do the very best job, and they must be smart, because getting into Dentistry isn't a piece of cake, in North America.

A dentist does not need an x ray to determine if you have an infection or not. I had the same problem at the start of my pregnancy and was prescribed an anti biotic suitable for pregnant women to reduce swelling and fight the infection before work was done on the tooth. Orjel is only going to numb the pain it is not going to get ride of the infection and the infection will only increase without antibiotics. You cannot take the normal Ibuprofen to help the inflammation because of the pregnancy the only painkiller you can take is paracetamol. You can go to your GP for a prescription for antibiotics it does not have to be your dentist. Although i would seriously think of changing my dentist if they just left you in pain like that with no advice or offer of any treatment. Sorry to tell you but nothing is going to ease that pain except treatment with antibiotics. Good luck.

I don't know what state you are in but, have you tried going to your local health and human services offices? You might be eligible for Medicaid. Also if you are eligible for medicaid and under 21 - all you dental bills would be covered at 100 percent. You can email me what state you are in and I can look up what agencies may be availible to you. I work in Texas with a program called Texas Health Steps - its a medicaid program for all people on medicaid under the age of 21. But, I'd be happy to help you find services in your state.

Do to the local heath departent. They will help. You may have to get them pulled and get dentures, but if it is making you sick the dental department will have to help you. Besides, wouldn't dentured be better than pain? And ou will look better as well as feel better
