all the answers are wrong the reason its sponge because you did not even out the sub floor underneath you could snap it back of put some filler down and snap back the laminate in place that should be all you need laminate floor's not supposed to be sponge and make sure you have enough expansion around the wall's

No. It sounds like some of the boards did not properly snap into place. The bad news is he will need to start pulling it up until he gets to those places and then reinstall them correctly and then put the rest back again.

Listen to George, he is on his game with this answer. I've installed this type of flooring myself and the floor has to be LEVEL before you do anything else.

there are air pockets under the flooring. get the contractor to come back out .
