It can be risky to overstay, as if you fly away from Heathrow or Gatwick, they can record that on your passport and can refuse future entry because of it. You can check Home Office website, but I don't know if it's any helpful. The best you can do is, go out of UK, and come back a few days before it expires, and at the airport explain to them that you need to stay 1 week after your visa's expiry date to sort out every thing, and ask for a visitor's visa. In that way, you'll be able to stay legally to sort out your thing. I read that on TNT. When you come back, if you can bring your ticket that you'll use on 8th DEC.

Q: If my travel plans are delayed, can the validity of my visa be changed?
A: No, except where there are compelling compassionate circumstances. At the discretion of an entry clearance officer, the expiry date of a visa can be extended for up to 3 months, provided there has been no change in your circumstances. Otherwise you should apply for another visa.

If you overstay, you are likely to have problems returning. I guess if they mark this in your passport, it could even give you problems applying for other countries!

Good luck, and get proper advice!

It's a work permit - the issue will be if you continue working after 30th November (or try to claim any benefits). I've had several Aussie / New-Zealander friends who've stayed several weeks after the permit has run out, but in holiday mode (i.e. they were not working). Probably a good idea to check with your high commission or embassy if you're not confident.

"overstay" implies that you've used up the time and are going to be illegally here. If here is the US, you should know that once deported you would not be able to return for 10 years.

No you wouldn't be able to stay. Contact the Home Office and explain your situation, they will put you through to the correct dept. who might be able to help you.
