Where do they fall on the economic and education scales? Of course, I realize that these would be generalizations....but I'm just curious. I'm looking for real studies on this...not just opinion. Anyone know of any?

The question below was posted by "immortal beloved." There are citations, etc. In general, there is a negative correlation between IQ & the "Religiosity Index". A more recent study, with a long name that starts "Cross-National Popular Relgiosity ..." (Journal of Religion and Society 2005 - Gregery S. Paul), also directly correlates a higher "religiosity index" with higher rates of homicide, early death, STD infection rates, aabortions & teen pregnancies. (In the U.S., the diffrrences are quite dramatic.) the study was done in 18 developed democracies.

"In the leading journal 'Nature' by Larson and Witham in 1998 a study showed only 7% of the members of the National Academy of Sciences (U.S) believed in a personal god. Of the 1,074 members of the Fellows of the Royal Society (U.K) a similar study was done showing that only 3.3% believed. Mensa (the society for individuals with high IQ) which publishes Mensa magazine, in 2002, had an article published by Paul Bell that concluded that of 43 separate studies carried out since 1927 on the relationship between religious belief and one's IQ and/or educational level, all but four found an inverse connection. That is, the higher one's intelligence or education level the less one is likely to be religious or hold 'supernatural beliefs" of any kind.

I do not assume that all believers are stupid. This question merely states certain facts and asks for responses."

Yes. In general atheists are more educated and live in more urban areas. The economic demographics are more evenly spread, however. Let me look up some studies - just a sec.

USA Today has a flash map of each state and the religion percentages in each state.

You might check the US Census stats or the Pew Forum (link below)

I don't know if there are reports that will break things down exactly as you ask.

I heave read a few reports that show that atheists generally score higher on IQ tests than theists. see link:

I don't know about economic and education scales but I do know that the West Coast of the US has more athiests than any other place in the nation. They also have much more suicides, I am not suggesting a correlation but it's just interesting to me.

You will probably find more atheists in richer countries and more Christians in poorer countries because rich people get arrogant and tend to fool themselves into thinking that their money will save them.

A poor person with no formal education can be a very wise person, and a rich person can be a rich educated fool.

Yes, you find both coming from all walks of life. Unlike your false assumption, there's some PhD Christians and some trailer park atheists. And vice versa.
