I already put sauce, some garlic powder, meatballs, mushrooms. What else should I throw in for the best flavor?

MEATBALL HERO SANDWICHES
A classic sandwich that is guaranteed to satisfy, whether served as a weekend lunch or an easy weeknight supper.
Nonstick vegetable oil spray
1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 large eggs
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley (preferably Italian)
1/4 cup crushed cornflakes
3 large garlic cloves, minced
2 1/2 teaspoons dried oregano
1/2 teaspoons ground white pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 cups purchased marinara sauce

6 long Italian or French rolls, split lengthwise, toasted

Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray heavy large baking sheet with nonstick vegetable oil spray. Combine ground beef, grated Parmesan cheese, eggs, chopped fresh parsley, crushed cornflakes, minced garlic, dried oregano, ground white pepper and salt in large bowl and blend thoroughly. Using moistened hands, shape meat mixture into 1 1/2-inch rounds and place on prepared sheet, spacing evenly. Bake meatballs until just firm to touch and cooked through, about 20 minutes
Bring marinara sauce to simmer in heavy large saucepan. Add meatballs to sauce and simmer until sauce thickens slightly, about 15 minutes. (Can be prepared 1 day ahead. Cover and refrigerate. Rewarm over low heat before continuing.)

Gently press center of bottoms of rolls to compact slightly. Spoon 5 or 6 meatballs into depression in each roll. Spoon enough sauce over to coat. Place tops of rolls over and serve.

Serves 6.

Use minced onion, Italian bread crumbs, egg, oregano and instead of sauce Try V-8 juice.
Cook the meatballs in V-8 juice. Then thicken the juice using 2T cornstarch & 1/8 C water.
Take you hoagie roll slit the top and create a pocket with your fingers. Force 4 hot meatballs into the pocket. Ladle some of the sauce over the meatballs. Top with a generous amount of mozzarella and place under broiler until cheese is melted.

I usually make garlic hoagie rolls in the oven then stuff them full of meatballs. To make the meatballs I make a typical recipe and then finely chop a little garlic and add some fresh herbs like parsley. I sautee onions and peppers and add to the pan drippings from cooking the meatballs. I cook this down into a gravy and put provolone cheese on top of the meatballs with the gravy. Sounds dietary doesn't it?

You could add bbq sauce or Italian seasoning (oregano, etc.). I would use provalone or mozzarella in this one:

Philly Cheese Meatball Sandwiches

1 package frozen fully-cooked beef meatballs
2 tsp. vegetable oil
1 green bell pepper, cut into 1/2-inch wide strips
1 small onion, cut into thin wedges
4-6 hoagie rolls, split, warmed
3/4 cup pasteurized process cheese spread sauce, heated

Heat oil in large nonstick skillet over medium heat until hot. Add bell pepper and onion; cook and stir 3 minutes. Add meatballs; cover and cook 13-14 minutes, or until meatballs are heated through and vegetables are tender, stirring occasionally. Spoon meatball mixture into rolls; drizzle with cheese sauce.

for the meatballs, a dash of italian seasoning, some italian breadcrumbs, and even a bit of ketchup is great..a beaten egg with the bread crumbs can also help the meatballs stay firm

enjoy your subs

The only thing I'd add is maybe some bananna or hot peppers (depending on what you prefer) once you get the meatballs on the sub. Sounds great...got any room left @ the table? :)
