Yes we "selectivlly" breed dogs, and my family has for many years. There is even a breed of dog which bears our family name (Llewellin Setter)

No way Jose - What makes you think people would GO to a shelter if they couldn't buy a PB puppy? *I* wouldn't, nor would most of my friends! Purebred dogs are bred for a purpose! I could hardly course my dogs if I had Spaniel crosses, nor could my friends show a mutt, nor could they take there dogs hunting if they had a Maltese cross. If I couldn't have Sighthounds of some kind, I probably wouldn't have any dogs at all and would travel more.

What are you, 10? Not everyone WANTS mutts! Why don't you get angry at the people who are too stupid or lazy to manage their animals and allow them to breed and make more mutts! Only 7% of the shelter dogs (country wide statistics) are PB!

BTW - I have Whippets, breed occasionally. I live in the northern midwest.

Google search breeders in your area or check out the AKC website for their breeder list. You can also look for a new pet on petfinder.com or your paper. What are you looking for & where? You can email me with that info.
Good luck.
