Go to www.photodo.com it has user ratings and MTF data on the lens. Looks like a goodun'.

Have got a 28 to 200 Canon USM lens and a D60 Camera (now out of date). Completely satisfied with both. Canon are reliable and give excellent performance. Look at the Canon website then go for it.

For $1700 (or however much it is these days) I can understand that you want some info. You probably don't need to be convinced that it's the best you can get for that focal range... you're probably wondering if the price is justified vs. the f/4 or a Sigma EX or something.

I have one of these cameras and they are very good you could try cannon's website or go to a good photographers and get some advice jessops are very good another option would be to go to various photographic shops and get their opinions
