HIV is the virus (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) that causes the disease AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome). There are many different strands of HIV, some more severe than others. In lamen's terms, HIV basically breaks down your immune system's ability to fight off infections. People can live with HIV for years before AIDS will develop, again, depending on the severity of the case. You can research it at www.wikipedia.org. HIV is contracted through direct contact with bodily fluids into an open sore or cut, or through ingestion or sexual intercourse.

HIV, or human immunodeficiency virus, is a disease that affects the immune system by disguising itself as t-cell (white blood cells) and killing off other t-cells. It may take a month or a year for your body to start showing the symptoms. You can get it by unprotected sexual intercourse with an infected person, sharing needles with an infected person, passage through pregnancy, etc. You can also develop AIDS from HIV.

HIV is Human Immunodefiency Virus and people get it when a person infected with this disease has sexual intercourse with a non infected HIV person. This is then spread to the non infected person also due to body fluid exchange.
