Non-attachment means not being so obsessed with things or people that we are not living fully and mindfully. Attachments bring pain. As we become less attached we have less pain.
For example, if I was very attached to a certain pair of jeans and someone wrote on them in marker, I would be devastated, angry, upset, etc.. If I was in a state of non-attachment I would just say, "Oh there is marker on the jeans" and go on about my life.
Non-attachment leads to peace.

there's nothing else to do and there's nowhere else to go. The earth is moving in a circle, life is moving from birth to death without us having to move at all. It's all happening without our help. The only thing we need to do is to get to reality. Then when we do, we will find that loving ourselves and loving others is a natural outcome of that. Because we are concerned with reality and that is the heart's real work -- to love. But only if we've also seen the other side of the coin in ourselves and have done the work of purification. Then it is no longer an effort or a deliberate attempt, but it becomes a natural function of our inner feelings, inward directed but shining outward.
The inward direction is an important aspect of our contemplative life. Whatever happens inwardly has direct repercussions on what takes place outwardly. The inner light and purity cannot be hidden, nor can the defilements.
Just put thoughts to rest and don't seek outwardly anymore. When things come up, then give them your attention; just trust what is functional in you at present, and you have nothing to be concerned about.

initially i thought u were talkin abt concentrating on ur internal spiritual processes and not bein attached 2 the outcome
the theory is if one does this, not only do we get clarity b'cos we lose the fear of the outcome, but we also strengtheh our knowledge an understandin of spiritual processes..

A psycho-babble word for not being nostalgic or holding material possessions to be of greater value than life itself.

seperating my feelings from things that are material
even down to my family at times i have to seperare ... this contradicts though as i love them very much ... and i have even tried to figure this one out myself lol
but i have tried my best and the way i see it is ... if something hurts me even when it is from someone close , then i pull myself out from that situation mentally , even if physically i am still there ... so i can deal with the situation at hand with a calmer and more rational mind
