Have the dealer use an ozone machine. It breaks down all the bacteria molecules and removes all odors. Dealers can get these machines for $100-$200. Make them include it in the deal but keep in mind it takes 24 hours for the application and another day to get the machine there.

I would check out an auto Detailer. They can do wonders removing smoke smells as well as other odors, like sour milk and vomit. It may cost $100. or more, but if the car is worth it, the cost is minimal. There is also a product called Ozone, a spray deodorizer for cars, that works pretty well. Probably a few applications would be needed. I am a smoker, and I use the Ozone and also Clorox Fresh Care to keep my car smelling "smoke Free". I hope this helps.

Are you sure about a year old car? With todays pricing plans at most dealers its a good chance you'll get a new car (with that new car smell) for you very own. Plus, you get to choose what you want in it, the color, and the joy of knowing that it was yours first. Stains and the smell from cigarette smoke can be removed, a detail shop( interior shampoo and deodorize) will be you best bet .However the burn marks from the hot ash will be an eye sore forever. At least with a new car the scent you wish to add to it will be a pleasing one, and thanks for not smoking : )

Good Luck...

My best guess would to consult a car care place to see what options they'd have for clearing out that smokey smell...Before you'd buy the car first.

smoke smell can be removed from a car but it has the tendency to return and would need to be retreated from time to time. i would not let that deter me from buying the car if the rest of the deal is to my satisfaction.

To be honest, do the math. A one year old cost almost as much as a new car.
