Th chicken. The chicken had to lay the egg. Egg just don't appear out of thin air. God just didn't make an egg because the Bible said that he made 'creatures that rome the earth." Eggs don't roam. They roll!!!

As the egg has no sign of genetalia or a sex life, i would have to say the chicken came first... but then as it is usually the male who performs this task first, maybe it was the rooster...

it was in fact the egg that came first. it was actually mutated, as its decendant from the ostrich. when it hatched the ostriches made it leave because it was so small and not ostrich like. so the mutant went off and mated with a budgie. another egg was laid by this unlikely couple, and out came the chicken. thus a new species had arrived.
