would the US, regardless of who, republican or democrate, is holding the strings of power, feel obliged to support the attack and any counter attack on israel?
what are the possiblilities that they wouldn't if any?
how would you feel about it if did happen would you throw your support behind israel?

If Israel bombed Iran I really doubt that there are going to be many countries supporting Israel...maybe US,yes.But thinking what would be the consequences of this attack I'm wondering if even US would support Israel...An attack on Iran would really anger Russia and China,let's not talk about the Islamic countries...
Of course I wouldn't support Israel in attacking another country.They have done enough damage to the Middle east and someone should stop them...

If they did that every piece of military hardware used would have been made in America and probably paid for by the American taxpayer,considering the US govt gives Israel $4 billion a year most of it being military aid.But the Israeli govt nowadays will never act on a big scale without first telling the US or even asking their permission for something of that scale considering the repercussions of the act.This is partly because the US military would want to have all its regional military capacity to deal with such an event.The US govt never wants to be caught off guard in any part of the world like the last time they were during the Suez crisis.Since then there has never been a conflict where the US govt has not had a contingency plan available for the possible repercussions on American interests in affected regions.

The entire middle east already thinks we use Israel to do our dirty work.. every time they lob a shell, it's "death to America".. to "back" them in a strike against Iran would only prove everyone right, and start the end of the world as we know it. Even a strong condemnation of such an action would not be credible.
I have a peace plan... stop firing your little rockets and Israel will quit shooting back!

Tough question.
Seem to me, there are 2 parts to this issue...
1. SHOULD we support Israel
2. WILL the new Dem-led govt support Israel
1. Considering that Israel is the only democracy in the middle east and considering that historically, attacks made by Israel have been in retaliation for being attacked, I think the answer is YES.
2. Nah.. They think they have a mandate to totally reverse US policy in regards to the middle-east.
I personally don't think the recent election was a mandate for total change. I think it was a mandate for new leadership.
But most Americans (Dem or Repub) are still moderates, and we all want security, good economy, equal rights for all, low taxes, and clean air/water... in that order.
But very soon the Dems in leadership (who are liberals, by the way) will show their socialist tendencies by trying to change the order of our priorities (putting ecology ahead of security, or not supporting the only democracy in the middle-east, for example).

I do not think Israel would bomb Iran unless they were to feel threatened directly by them. However, because of the situation they are in if they did, I think the Arab communities around them would feel they would have to attack them. Remember to get to Iran they would have to overfly some countries that are not friendly to Israel, with fighters or bombers, that is an act of war. I just do not see it happening.

the US would have to acquiesce to the attack, so they would support it (among other things the Israeli planes would have to fly over Iraq). Iran would hold the US responsible also. iran has missiles capable of reaching Israel. there are many US troops right next door in Iraq. the newspapers might get more interesting for a while.
