They are in fact assigned to typically rear echelon MOS's. However, the terrorists attack lightly armed or defended supply and support columns because they are "easy" targets. In regular war these support units are fairly safe from enemy attack. However, they are plum targets for a terrorist that just wants to kill anything American whether it gains them a tactical advantage or not. So medic, supply clerks are in just as must danger as a grunt in the front line when away from their base camp.
My advice to US military women aka "soldiers or Marines" stay alert and stay alive and keep your weapon clean!!!

First of all there are no "front lines" in Iraq. Second of all females in the military, though they aren't allowed in combat MOS's, make enormous contributions to every mission. And for real, wars were never fought to protect the "women and children", get a life you neanderthal!

Because all those that joined must do there part. We still do not let women in combat jobs (infantry, tanks, Etc.) but they do work in supply, medical and all those jobs. We need those jobs done just as much as the rest and they joined, of there own free will, knowing that they might have to go over there. I am just important to my family as my wife or the wife or mother of somone else. Look at the number of guys killed to the number of women. I think we still protect them even in a combat zone.

Because of womans Lib. Women want to be treated as a mans equal. Therefore they are sent to Iraq. However, women do not fight on the frontline still so it is less likely they will die in combat.

Read up on your American history. The decision to allow women to fight is rather recent and was the result of women fighting for equality.
I personally believe that many people get confused between equality and equal value. Men and women are of equal value, but not equal (identical). Seems to me, many are fighting for the wrong thing.
Ummmmmm.. by the way, it's 'their' not 'there'. Don't they teach English in schools today?

The women serving weren't drafted. They are doing what they do because they are proud of it and they have the ability. Remember, it takes two to make a family, so whether it's the woman or man serving, it effects the family.

The obvious answer is that women want to and should be treated equally. If they want equal pay for equal work then it should include all aspects of civilian and military employment.

Women want to be treated as equals, don't they. Sorry, but they have to take the bad along with the good. It has been their decision.
